My favorite cold-weather textile without a doubt has to be velvet. To me, it is so luxurious and adds a beautiful pop of something different to a look. Interestingly, velvet actually refers to the structure of the fabric, where the fiber is typically wool or cotton. And for a little tidbit of history, velvet used to be the single most expensive fabric that was produced when it was made by hand. Luckily for us with the use of machines and modern technology, velvet won’t run us up a crazy price tag, and we can enjoy it as a seasonal statement.
